Become a researcher

The meeting "Become a researcher" organized by the Academy of Young Scholars on February 16 this year. is aimed at high school students and first-year students. Its purpose is to encourage them to choose a career in science. Although women constitute the majority of people studying in Poland, relatively few of them decide to stay in science, especially in the so-called STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Therefore, we want to show that being a researcher is a really fantastic job, giving a lot of satisfaction, allowing for continuous development, although not without difficult challenges. The occasion to organize this meeting is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated annually on February 11.

In the first part of the meeting, recognized researchers representing various fields of knowledge, from the humanities to engineering, will talk about their careers, explain why they decided to study, what difficulties they encountered and how they overcame them, what is their passion in their profession. In the second part of the conference, we will invite participants to the so-called table discussions - participants will be able to talk in small groups with scientists representing their field of interest and learn more about the way of conducting research, the highlights and shadows of scientific work, or seek advice on how to best manage their professional development.

We invite everyone interested on February 16 to the Staszic Palace (ul. Nowy Świat 72) in Warsaw! Participation in the meeting is free of charge.
