Maciej Wojtkowski

Prof. dr hab. Maciej Wojtkowski (born 1975) deals with the applications of optics in medicine. With his work, Maciej Wojtkowski made a significant contribution to the development of optical methods of tissue imaging. Together with his colleagues from the Medical Physics Group of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, he constructed the world's first device for in vivo imaging of the human retina using SOCT optical tomography. Prof. Wojtkowski is the author of over 120 publications, including 63 in journals from the Philadelphia list, and five patents.

In 2007, prof. Wojtkowski was honored with a renowned distinction / research grant from the European Young Investigator Award in the amount of EUR 1,200,000, as part of the funding for the creation of his own research group. During his academic career, Dr. Wojtkowski gained experience in laboratory work by working on many scientific internships at the University of Vienna, the University of Kent in Canterbury and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA. Currently, dr hab.
