Marcin Magierowski

Prof. dr hab. n. med. Marcin Magierowski (born 1987) is a Professor of Jagiellonian University (Faculty of Medicine, Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow) and a head of Cellular Engineering and Isotope Diagnostics Laboratory (Department of Physiology). Marcin Magierowski has been the PI of the research grants financed by the National Center for Research and Development and the National Science Center (NSC). He is the supervisor of young researchers handling the research projects awarded by NSC (Preludium) or Ministry of Education and Science (pol. Perły Nauki programme). He obtained the title of doctor of medical sciences with honors in 2016 and habilitation in 2019. Marcin Magierowski is an awardee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship for outstanding young scientists, START scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science, the Polpharma Scientific Foundation Award, Browicz Award for outstanding medical research (The Polish Academy of Arts and Science), recognition for outstanding early career GI researchers by American Gastroenterological Association and many others.

Marcin Magierowski and founded by him Gaseous Mediators and Experimental Gastroenterology Lab is scientifically focused on the physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology of the gastrointestinal tract, with special emphasis on the therapeutic potential of new endogenous gaseous mediators-releasing compounds, such as carbon monoxide- or hydrogen sulfide-releasing prodrugshttps://gameg.cm-uj.krakow.plResults of these studies have been published in prestigious scientific journals classified in the first decile in biochemistry and molecular biology, pharmacology, gastroenterology, based on JCR; he was a speaker during many prestigious medical conferences in The United States, Canada and Europe. Marcin Magierowski has developed his scientific background and conducted his research, among others at McMaster University in Canada, Newcastle University in The United Kingdom or at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). M. Magierowski is member (also invited) of renowned international scientific societies, such as e.g. American Chemical Society, Society for Redox Biology and Medicine, etc.
