Maciej Dołęga

Dr hab. Maciej Dołęga — profesor Instytutu Matematycznego Polskiej Akademii Nauk, pracuje w Oddziale krakowskim gdzie
prowadzi grupę badawczą z matematyki dyskretnej. Laureat nagrody im. Wacława Sierpińskiego oraz nagrody magazynu “Polityka” w kategorii nauk ścisłych. Stypendysta Programu Fulbrighta, Fundacji na rzecz Nauki Polskiej oraz Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego. Pracę magisterską i doktorat napisał pod kierunkiem prof. Piotra Śniadego i obronił na Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim. Następnie pracował na Uniwersytecie Paryskim VII, na Uniwersytecie im. Adama Mickiewicza, oraz prowadził badania na University of California San Diego jako visiting scholar w ramach programu STEM Impact Award Fundacji Fulbrighta. Specjalizuje się w kombinatoryce algebraicznej i enumeratywnej której metody i wyniki stosuje do rozwiązania problemów w innych dziedzinach matematyki i fizyki, min. w probabilistyce, teorii reprezentacji, geometrii enumeratywnej oraz fizyce statystycznej.

Dr hab. Maciej Dołęga — an associate professor at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, working in the Krakow branch where he leads a research group in discrete mathematics. He is a recipient of the Wacław Sierpiński Award and the “Polityka” magazine award in the category of Physical Sciences. He has been a Fulbright Scholar, and a scholarship holder of the Foundation for Polish Science and the Ministry of Education and Science. He completed his master’s thesis and doctorate under the supervision of Prof. Piotr Śniady and defended them at the University of Wrocław. Subsequently, he worked at Paris VII University, Adam Mickiewicz University, and conducted research at the University of California, San Diego, as a visiting scholar under the Fulbright STEM Impact Award program. He specializes in algebraic and enumerative combinatorics, applying its methods and results to solve problems in other fields of mathematics and physics, including probability theory, representation theory, enumerative geometry, and statistical physics.
