Dr hab. Dorota Czajkowska-Szczykowska - chemical sciences (organic chemistry)

Assistant professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Bialystok; specializes in steroid chemistry and organic synthesis.

She has been associated with the team of prof. dr. hab. Jacek W. Morzycki, where she gained experience in the synthesis of natural products, mainly steroid compounds with biological properties (including cholafans and vitamin D derivatives). After defending the doctoral dissertation entitled "The application of olefin metathesis in the synthesis of macrocyclic compounds" her research interests also included the synthesis of rotors and other molecular machines obtained from steroid molecules - structures showing properties desired in nanotechnology, optics and photonics.

She is a laureate of several Awards from the Rector of the University of Bialystok for scientific activity and awards granted by students for teaching activities. Co-author of scientific articles in journals from the JCR list. She has carried out or managed several research projects financed by her home University, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Science Center, receiving positive decisions to finance the SONATA 1 and BMN-174 (UwB) grants. She collaborates with research centers in the USA (University of California, UCLA) and Mexico (CINVESTAV). Secretary of the Organic Chemistry Section of PTChem, expert in the Podlasie Chemistry Competition, member of the Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn and Białystok with its seat in Olsztyn and the Chemical and Physical Sciences Commission operating at this Branch, member of The Isoprenoid Society.
