At the Lodz University of Technology, he performs the following functions: Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, Member of the Senate, Disciplinary Spokesman for Ph.D. Students and Vice-Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Discipline Council.

His main research area is nonlinear dynamics. He focuses on synchronization of complex networks, mitigation of vibrations, bifurcation theory, and dynamics of systems with discontinuities. His significant achievement is developing a hybrid bell model, identifying the sources of randomness in mechanical systems, and innovative designs of tuned mass dampers and absorbers.

Professor Perlikowski cooperates with many leading scientific institutions in Poland, Great Britain, Germany, Ecuador, and Russia. As part of his research, he completed many visits and internships, including two postdoctoral fellowships at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the National University of Singapore. He was the supervisor of four Ph.D. students, one of whom received the Prime Minister's Award for his doctoral dissertation. Currently, he is supervising one Ph.D. student.

Awarded, among others: Professor Michał Życzkowski Award of the Committee of Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2017), Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists (2012-2015), Start Scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science (2011, 2012), Award of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Łódź and the Conference of Rectors of Lodz Universities (2010).

Professor Perlikowski is a member of the two Advisory Panels of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Moreover, he is a member of the Committee on Mechanics and the Committee on Machine Building of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.
